Technorati’s Ultimatum: Upgrade WordPress to 2.5 Now or Your Blog Will NOT Be Indexed

By: Sophia Lucero | April 8, 2008 | 7 Comments

Now this comes as a surprise. Technorati has actually given an ultimatum to vulnerable WordPress blogs, saying that unless they upgrade to the latest, most secure version, 2.5, they will not be indexed.

Blogs that have been compromised by this security vulnerability are typified by having links to spam destinations inserted onto the blog page. These link insertions may be invisible to casual observations; the links are often obscured by style attributes that render them invisible. These links are still seen by crawlers such as Technorati’s, Google’s and Yahoo’s.

Technorati also mentions that blogs hosted on WordPress.com should not have this vulnerability.

I know Filipino bloggers are big fans of Technorati, so here’s yet another reason for you to upgrade to WordPress 2.5. Don’t worry, it’s not scary at all!

Pinoy WordPress Plugin: Technorati Tags for WordPress 2.3

By: Sophia Lucero | February 21, 2008 | No Comments Yet

Will Garcia has written a WordPress plugin that displays Technorati tags for a post in place of its local tags.

After a few minutes of tinkering with the core files, I decided to try making a plugin that would mimic Ultimate Tag Warrior’s ability to display Technorati tags, a feature that I sorely miss, having to let go of the plugin I have come to know and love. I definitely know I have to do something about it. It’s the OCD-ridden kid in me that just has to scratch this itch.

I created this plugin so that anyone who wants their posts listed as Technorati tagged posts. That way, you get more traffic (hopefully) from Technorati. This is also something I want my blog to have, and I think I’m not alone on this one. In case I am, well, I still did it for me. What are personal blogs for but your own person, right?

Get Ratified!

By: Sophia Lucero | February 5, 2008 | 1 Comment

You might remember that we got this WordPress Philippines party started by asking you to contribute in several ways: submitting themes and plugins, posting at the forums, and tagging your blog posts with “wordpressph”.

This time, we’re encouraging all of you to get your Philippine blogs listed at Ratified.org. Ratified ranks Filipino blogs according to various stats from Google, FeedBurner, and Technorati. And yes, Ratified is for Pinoys, by Pinoys. Sa’n ka pa!
