Gossip blog Chikatime mysteriously goes offline, months after it broke the controversial story about Brian Gorrell, DJ Montano, and the Gucci Gang.

A few days ago it has limited its access to a selected number of readers only, but as of writing the site has exactly one blog post entitled “farewell”:

para wala nang gulo, we apologize to everyone we wrote about. madami din kaming na-offend.

WordPress.com now supports Google Gears

WordPress.com announces they now officially supports offline access through Google Gears. This means a faster and more enjoyable blogging experience.

To enable this feature, simply hit “Turbo” in your dashboard.

After that Gears will download around 200 files and store them on your PC. It will also update them when needed automatically in the background, no other actions are required.

For users using self-hosted WordPress, this feature will be coming soon in WordPress 2.6.

WordPress Plugin: WordPress Exploit Scanner

With all the talk about WordPress security vulnerabilities, every bit of protection helps. The WordPress Exploit Scanner plugin does just what it says: it looks for any suspicious behavior in your WordPress files and database tables.

This WordPress plugin searches the files on your site for a few known strings sometimes used by hackers, and lists them with code fragments taken from the files. It also makes a few checks of the database, looking at the active_plugins blog option, the comments table, and the posts table.

It also allows the blog owner to search for whatever string they like which could come in handy when new exploit code is used in a hack.
